What does Advanced Independent Curriculum™ mean? One Schoolhouse offers a certification program to secondary schools who wish to offer courses for academically advanced and ambitious students that will best challenge and engage these students in accordance with schools’ own missions and academic philosophies. The tool we offer specifies a rigorous process of course alignment based on our own published and freely available Standards for Advanced Independent Curriculum. Certification is for a single class, each class must be submitted for certification separately.
The spirit of Advanced Independent Curriculum™ flows from our belief that a school’s own mission and values, the expertise of its own faculty, and the needs and aspirations of its own students must and should be the driving forces in the development of all its learning programs. One Schoolhouse course certification for Advanced Independent Curriculum™ provides a tool and a process for creating learning experiences that embody and express the school’s essential aims as it seeks to meet the needs of ambitious and curious learners.
To receive course certification, schools must submit documentation to our certification team that demonstrates that the course meets the standards. Re-certification is required after three years or when there has been a significant change in the learning objectives, content, or teacher of the course.

"College admissions personnel were so excited to have a school call that didn't ask 'how can we get our kids in', but wanted to talk about a new educational perspective."
Sonia D. Bell, Director of College Counseling at St. Luke's School (CT)
